Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) asked a lot of questions, among others: “Why should we not also enjoy an original relation to the Universe?” “Why should not we also have a poetry and philosophy of insight and not of tradition, and a religion by revelation to us, and not the history of theirs?” . Next Sunday,  the Rev. Gregory Stewart will conduct the service at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in San Francisco and he will consider what then became Emerson’s obsession as a gift for us today.
